The question given to us for the Shanghai Design Biennial was how to improve the underground. I asked locals to write down their suggestions.
In Hand
In People's Park Shanghai there was no problem talking to strangers. This woman plucked the sewing out of my hands and took over, whilst another younger woman sat beside me to practice english. She interpreted my questions and the answers.
Out of Place
Admittedly amongst the weekending locals I was a strange sight.
Shanghai Interchange
All ideas were added together. In summary they amounted to more trains. A fancy new metro station design was of no interest to these metro users.
Boxed Up
Discussion took place in the making of the Tea Box not in the drinking of the tea.
